And I actually prefer his singing, even if he does play to lame tropes. He's got a perfectly fine voice, but has absolutely no fire or conviction to his screams, so it just sounds like tri-hard bull**** cause metalcore singers scream and ****. It doesn't sound awful, just uninspired.

Out of the big four of that era, I personally prefer Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu, and Bullet for my Valentine instead of Trivium. Could only really get into a few songs.

The Shogun album is fantastic for this reason.

Gross. I like a bit of Atreyu, but only from Lead Sails Paper Anchor cause of how cheesy and poppy it was. Otherwise they were a lame, bog-standard metalcore band. And how were those the big four of that era? Big Four of melodic metalcore would be Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Trivium, and... I don't know, Shadows Fall? Bring Me the Horizon? Last one doesn't matter.

OMG I wanna be an elitist at you so hard. Must resist temptation...

In terms of fanbase size is what I was referring to. At the time, the four I named were four of the biggest names in non-pop related music. Lead Sails Paper Anchor was easily my favorite album by them so we've got that in common.

A Death Grip On Yesterday is a pretty good album.

Why listen to things with titles that remind you of Death Grips when you can be reminded of Death Grips by listening to their music?
