I've actually visited Croatia and I don't remember seeing a ridiculous amount of hot people... but perhaps I just wasn't looking.

I'm kind of interested in hearing what "pagan metal" sounds like though.

Mojo 03-25-2010 02:01 PM

^^ Male growls? Female, more melodic vocals? Maybe some wind instruments? And riffs?

Thats my guess. Or is it a generalisation?

Really?

Her style of dress definitely made me think pagan and it made me think metal, something like folk metal or symphonic black metal.

I never heard of pegan metal, though I assume it's related to those genres.

How dare you! (where'd you go?)

storymilo 03-25-2010 06:27 PM

We were in mainland Croatia very close to Italy... I believe the town was called Rovinj but I'm not completely sure.

I was only there for a couple days but it was a pretty beautiful place though, especially on the ocean.

Arya Stark 03-25-2010 08:14 PM

I'm so jealous of your eyelashes.
Gorgeous.

Freebase Dali 03-25-2010 08:19 PM

Notice that none of the girls here will say anything about Ana's pictures.
Inside, they're thinking "dirty slut. slut. whore. nasty ho. disease havin' skank."

Kayleigh commented rather grudgingly I think.

Nah, her comment was in a joking way.

The grudging comments are the ones held back. You'll see girls comment on other girls about how pretty they are when in reality, they're half-ass ugly. The girls know it. But it makes them feel good that they can make someone else feel good while still holding the cards. Nothing is at stake. They come out as a nice girl and it makes them look better.
But they can't throw those cards away when a real hottie comes along, so they'll just ignore it and pretend like they never saw the hottie so they can maintain face to the public... meanwhile they're looking for ways to call the girl a slut as to take the hotness down a notch with a chance of venereal diseases. lol...
It's not a pretty theory, but in my 29 years of existence around women (growing up in a house of 5 of them), I'm pretty confident it's not even a character flaw, but simply a deep-rooted survival mechanism or some shit.

I don't even think they mean to do it. But they do. All the time.

storymilo 03-25-2010 09:40 PM

You know you're so right.

Like on facebook, some chick will post an ugly picture and all her friends will say "omg soooo pretty"

and then an amazingly hot person posts a picture and nobody comments. Maybe someone says "nice pic"

god.

It all makes sense now.

If so, you've been lying about being Canadian all this time! I like this picture of you though, looks like an interrupted make-out session:

I don't even think they mean to do it. But they do. All the time.

I think everything you've said is completely true, but especially the part in bold. I can't begin to count the number of times I'll crawl through FB, see some fugly girl and 10 comments on the pic all along the lines of "ooh, so pretty". But not one shows up when a sexy babe has a new pic up.

It's like a self-defense mechanism for the insecure.

NumberNineDream 03-26-2010 02:46 PM

It's sadly true... well it's pretty known really, it didn't need a survey on the boards.

As for me, the reason why I don't reply to "sexeh babes" photos is that I never reply on someone's sexehness.
And never really understood posting a pic of one's self, the same day that person joins. I wouldn't think anyone would care about some anonymous person's picture, even if they're the most beautiful creature on the planet. So that's another reason.
Absurd, I say (or repeat).

Mandelorean 03-26-2010 03:05 PM

I took down my pictures. I kinda started out with a loose plan on keeping the fact that I was female hidden. Me posting pictures was stupid and didn't help in that plan. Plus, this is a music forum. What I look like isn't going to give merit to anything I say about music.

NumberNineDream 03-26-2010 03:11 PM

So your plan lasted less than one day?

Mandelorean 03-26-2010 03:23 PM

Well, I realized that I type like a female. Before I posted the pictures it was already out of the bag. Then I used bad judgment and posted pictures. What is the point of a female posting pictures on here unless they want comments on them...which I didn't. Like I said...just a lapse of judgment on my part.

NumberNineDream 03-26-2010 03:46 PM

But isn't your avatar, a pic of you?

Indeed. I think it's part of an underhanded competitive nature that tries to sabotage the odds and mentally level the playing field when they feel like they're no longer the hottest queen in heat.

It's about ruining someone's credibility, or just not contributing to it, as an attempt gain an edge that their own physical features are no longer contributing to adequately.

...

But also incredibly accurate.

Well hell, now even if I wanted to post something about how smoking hot Ana is, and how if I were a guy, I'd totally hit that...it would just be weird.

Thanks guys...thanks.

ElephantSack 03-26-2010 10:24 PM

Yeah, it's a lot more fun to get to know people on the forum first, get them to speculate over what you really look like and then show them pictures.

I think it's annoying when all of the guys on here are all over some girl.
I wish more people were like that with Kayleigh, she's ****ing gorgeous.
Or Dayna, cause she is too.
Lateralus is one of the few girls on here who deserve all of the compliments she gets on her looks.

I don't completely disagree with this. In fact, I see where you're coming from very clearly.

My only issue is that you seem to think this "niceness" comes from a self-absorbed place. Why can't a compliment be given to a less attractive person and it be considered genuine?

Kayleigh is really pretty. But I'm not familiar with the other member you mentioned. So I can't really comment. I assume you were talking about Savannah and Vanilla when you say "all over some girls", correct me if I'm wrong?

See, you're a girl, and therefore you have a jaded perspective of relative female attractiveness levels. What's attractive to you might not be the same for most guys (and vice-versa, I'm sure).

If men here are forthcoming about how they feel about women here, it's out of genuine attraction for them and not some dour attempt to ingratiate themselves into another notch on the bed post.

haha dang, i just googled 'dave' to make a point. i just grabbed the first one that wasn't an old man, just my luck that he digs on interspecies lovage.

my experience says, if you look ridiculous hot and are only posting professional photos one of two things is happening: you're spamming or planning on it, or you're another bandteacher. it's not like a real model wouldn't have regular 'bad' photos like the rest of us.
