It does get cold on the coast too.

Yes, that's true, Janszoon, but when I lived in Boston it was nothing like the bone-chilling 30 below zero degrees F weather of my home state.

I can't decide if AwwSugar's coat is one of those "I'm wearing a cool coat" coats for 15 degree temperatures I recall from East Coast winters...or is it one of those "This is serious-business-I-am-covering-every-inch-of-my-body-to-prevent-frost-bite-and-death" coats I wear out here in the MidWest, where the wind sweeps across the plains with nothing to stop it but one leaning scarecrow, some old rusted trucks, and a few trees not yet toppled to create more cornfields or room for wealthy people's houses up in the last remaining forested areas.

Well, interestingly enough since you mentioned these two cities specifically, I grew up in Boston and lived in Chicago for five years and I have to say I found the winters roughly the same. Maybe it's different in Iowa.

Interesting! I think you are right that Chicago is quite a bit warmer than Iowa...probably due to the Great Lakes and the fact that Chicago is a big city with the warmth from all those buildings and people and cars, etc. Maybe if I had lived outside Boston in some tiny town the temperatures would have been similar to what I experience here.

Well, I will say I remember finding DeKalb a hell of a lot colder than Chicago so you may have a point about the city being warmer.

Dear VEGANGELICA,

I live in New York.

Haha.

I bought the coat for fall. It's really thin. Not a winter coat at all. I don't know what kind of accent I have, though. The end. [=

I'd totally make a holocaust joke if I wasn't so sure it had already been done.

i hate it when people use exaggeration for comedic purposes... ****ing *******s

ProggyMan 09-14-2009 07:16 PM

I'm a bit too toned for that comparison ricknbacker...;)

pourmeanother 09-14-2009 07:32 PM

Cut down the skinny person now, but we'll get the last laugh when we're 80. At that point, your once chiseled pec's will have been reduced to saggy man breasts. Whereas our skinny bod will remain toyght as always (two times using toygh in a short span). We'll be getting all the play at the retirement home...

Rickenbacker 09-14-2009 07:36 PM

I know, I know. It was Freebase who mentioned that earlier now that I think about it.

I'm sure you were being sarcastic with this... but there's nothing to exaggerate. Proggy's not even skinny.

storymilo 09-14-2009 08:46 PM

Wait, so you're calling Rickenbacker a failtroll? Is this a joke or not, I can't tell...

What the hell are you blaming on me right now? I honestly haven't kept up with this.

Alfred 09-14-2009 09:02 PM

The Holocaust joke. I must admit, I lol'd when I read that post.

Rickenbacker 09-14-2009 10:02 PM

There's not exactly a lot to moderate at the minute, so what the hell.

This one's from a couple of nights back I think, at a mate's place on the seaside...
