Wow you guys have short memories.

Those kind of exchanges are a beauty to behold and you just have to grab them with both hands and savour them for ever. When all the stars are aligned (i.e the brits have had a few and a newbie posts at the same time) then it's pure poetry or annoying (delete as appropriate).

The only time I ever comment on pictures in here is when I already know the person who's picture it is. I've not commented on any new persons pic in ages, male or female.

Ah you're right.
I was thinking about Erika's introduction thread.

Considering she already had a picture of herself in her avvy, I don't see how it's much different. Besides, I didn't say anything about commenting on pictures specifically. Just the silly banter between you, David & Lee when a cute new girl is involved.

That's what I was hoping for.
You guys let me down.

If anything, it's comedy.

Its 'worse' in Scotland! People always say when its raining up here, "Doon England, They Get Aw The Gid Weather". I actually(strangely) prefer the rainy weather to the hot, stuffy sunny days. Its the cold wind I dont like. So conversely, I am usually in a better mood when its pishing with rain as opposed to blaring hot sunshine & people dont understand it. I must be some kind of weather troll. :shycouch:

Awesome dreads... does that require not washing your hair? I was never really too sure about that.

Thanks, yo. I washed it rarely. And never with shampoo. Just Dial Anti-bacterial soap. Also I rubbed in Beeswax and lemon juice occasionally.

The pain in the ass was that I had to twist a bunch of my hair up, rub it like I was trying to set it on fire with my hands, and comb it backwards toward my scalp. Yipee! Also, it was kind of like having a massive sponge growing out of the top of my head. They took forever to dry, and it took me about 7 months to finish them after I started. I went to high school graduation with two complete dreads and the rest of my hair a nappy mess!

Nice picture VF :) Looks like some fancy equip in the background there too!

Me and the GF just recently saved a magpie chicken from a dog. Of course there was no way it was going to survive, so we brought it home (we're both biologists after all). To our pleasant surprise, the bird was basically tame from day one and was easy to feed and so on. It's been a few days now and he's become part of our family now. Whenever he gets hungry, he starts squawking and whistling to us.

Here's a picture of me and Fridtjof :)

Sadly, our pet rat Sam died a little while ago for no obvious reason (he had cramps and died on the way to the vet) and after much grieving, we decided to get a couple more little mates. We checked the net and found someone half a kilometer away who did not have time for his rats, so we bought them off him. So here's Fridtjof (magpie), Gunnar & Fredrik (rats) and me of course.

Hehe, thanks :D

I really love close contact with animals and it's a big part of what got me into biology, although we mostly deal with animals on a theoretical level. Everyone should have a pet, I think. Their presence brighten each day a little and it's even good for your health. Pet rats are the perfect low-maintenance pets for us who have little space and don't have the time to walk dogs every day. :)

As for Fridtjof, we're just keeping him until he can fly. Then we'll try and find an area where he can hopefully make a home for himself. We've been taking him out for fly-training and he's not quite there yet, but he's pretty good with slowed, controlled falling.
