Leffe has to be the best beer I've ever tasted, though I've only had it twice at a Belgian beer cafe. It's probably not even that amazing by European standards but it's miles ahead of anything I've tried in NZ.

The 500D (that's what it's called here). Very good choice my dear .
Proud of you! It's a really good entry level camera which is actually way better than the sound of 'entry level' may make you think. You can stick to this one for many years. The standard 18-55 lens is pretty bad though. It has come with all entry level Canon DSLR's. You really want another lens some time or another. I would suggest you'd buy the Canon 17-85IS and Canon has zome very nice 70-300mm zoom lenses that are cheap to buy. But first get to know the camera and the photo's it takes. That way you'll see the difference even better, should you decide to replace your lens
