Hey, don't insult improvisation. When I was his age, I lived in a 2 story house with carpet stairs, and since we never had snow, I nailed straps to a relatively short piece of 2x4 board and "stair-boarded" down the stairs on a regular basis (when the parents weren't around).

Without derailing the thread any further, let's just say that if you didn't get the point behind the stair-boarding thing, then the rest of the conversation would be a little one-sided. But I'll accept that you had some other motive.
