I'm not sure what you're getting at. It has nothing to do with the quality of the person, it's simply a story about the PR game. People thought Dukakis looked goofy in the helmet and the result was negative PR. Not voting for someone because they look silly in a helmet is a dumb reason to make a political decision but nevertheless these kinds of things do influence votes. Another more recent example of this kind of thing is Howard Dean's weird sounding shriek during the 2004 campaign:

that's pretty much it. i always found George W. to look incredibly goofy whenever he'd pose on aircraft carriers or in military gear. somehow his PR people used the same trick and the public reacted completely differently. like i said, the only difference i see is a change in hand gestures.

regardless this isn't a thread about politics.

Well, I agree with you, but I guess he (or his people) was/were a lot better at PR manipulation since he got elected president twice.

Here's a picture I took of myself and my violin last month. My mother bought the dress for me perhaps 20 years ago, and I had completely forgotten about it until I found the dress in a closet while preparing for my photo shoot.

If I don't say so myself (but I do!), I think this photo turned out quite nicely!

very nice indeed. kind of reminds me of my grandmother (in a good way) though i thought you needed glasses and were anti-contacts.
