Yeah I have a job fair coming up in two weeks so I need to lock down the facebook/myspace... it's stupid really, what do they think goes on at college? Anyways, are you at a private school, as pictures of drinking should not affect your scholarship status...

lucifer_sam 02-10-2009 10:58 PM

Private scholarships at a public school. So yeah, if they actually cared to look me up...

Ooh that's harsh... I'll be lucky to keep my scholarship after this semester with the way my GPA is gonna tank.

I have a beer in my hand in most photo's that exist of me. Its not attention seeking though, that just happens to be the situations in which the camera's come out.

What's so cool, humiliating or attention seeking about drinking beer? Also; are you flaming my beer pic?! :bringit:

Maybe not but also I dont think its something to make a big deal of NOT being proud about. If I was drinking every minute of every day then that wouldnt be cool and I'd have a problem. However going out every weekend and getting steamed is not necessarily a bad thing.

Guybrush 02-13-2009 07:45 AM

I'm guessing the badwill against picture with beer in them comes from american youth culture and it's trends and attitudes towards alcohol (it's a teenage lament).

BJ, as you get older, beer or no beer is not really important.

Well i drink a bit more than that, though i am a student so that's what happens.
I think as long as you know your limits and aren't a violent arsehole then all the power to you.

Mojo 02-13-2009 07:56 AM

Me too admittedly. Well, maybe not recently but when I actually had the cash I probably drank a bit too much. But yeah, i think thats where its at. Drinking so much to actually ruin your life or repeatedly drinking so much that you instantly become an arsehole is not cool at all. As you say, know your limits. I do, and if pictures of me pissed end up on Facebook then I couldnt give two ****s to be honest.

Probably. In my personal opinion, the stricter alcohol laws in this country have the self-defeating effect of making minors more focused on drinking heavily, which results in the kind of fetishizing of alcohol that BoopieJones is talking about.

Mojo 02-13-2009 10:30 AM

It'll be 21 to drink here soon too. I know you lot have been saying it forever but I cant get my head around being able to vote at 18 but not being allowed a drink.

At 18 you can vote, join the military, buy cigarettes, buy porn and buy lottery tickets but you can't buy beer. I've lived here my whole life and I can't get my head around it either.

Is UK seriously moving in the same direction? That's crazy.

Mojo 02-13-2009 10:42 AM

As far as I'm aware theres nothing in place but there has been talk of it. I dont think it will happen just yet but it seems every other week the news is just full of binge drinking and alcohol related deaths figures and statistics as we are told that we are getting worse all the time so I wouldn't be surprised to see something in place eventually.

And oddly enough the only table my home town (people tell me Sunderland is a city now but I will continue to call it a town. Those people I dont think have been to Sunderland) is top of is the binge drinking table. Oh and the teenage pregnancy table as well I believe.

It really is a beautiful place. You should visit.

Well your description does make it sounds pretty enticing.

Mojo 02-13-2009 10:53 AM

Hah. Oh yeah, it may have been made a city in 1992 but its still a ****hole. Anyway, i think we have dragged this thread as far off topic as it will go now.

jackhammer 02-13-2009 12:47 PM

I will start a thread on this recent subject. Sounds like it could have some legs.

I have about 200 photos on Facebook probably...about 150 I have a beer in my hand. Im not showing off that I have a beer. It comes down to basically the only time Im ever in pictures is at parties. I dont just take pictures. I imagine the majority of the people here are in the same situation as well.

jackhammer 02-13-2009 05:27 PM

Someone needs to tell me who laces out dan is please!

Laces Out Dan! 02-13-2009 05:29 PM
