Default Ridiculous

Yesterday I registered here because I was desperately looking for a song that I heard on TV during a hockey game. Thankfully I had that extract, which I uploaded to Youtube. It was a brief extract, no lyrics, no other way to describe the tune.

So I opened the thread in the identify section and posted the YT link. Obviously, it didn't work. You need 15 posts first. But thou shalt not spam, it must be some fruitful contributions. So I just posted the final part of the link (you know, on YT it's the watch?v=xxxxx part). Obviously, a mod needs to review first. Obviously, I was banned forever for spam. Since I'm new I'm not allowed to let the others hear my song. Maybe I have to explain it in some way like "it's music that plays for 5 seconds".

Now my question is: wtf is this??? What kinda ridiculous rule is this? And what kinda mods support this?

Thank god I posted to another forum too. A few hours later a guy answered and I found my song. I thanked him, he said I did well to post the extract. I was happy, he was happy, everyone was bloody happy. Nobody had to waste precious time of their lives, nobody had to care about some 15 posts, nobody had to impose some weird elitist discriminating cyberrules. I have my bloody song, nobody got hurt by my less-than-15 posts, it's done.

Okay, now I've really wasted too much time of my life writing this. But I just wanted you to know that you're ridiculous, that's all.
Now ban me again, I'm cool with that, I don't give a shit. (Now I've given you three reasons: spamming, swearing, and circumventing the ****s).

Goodbye

Re-read your post. Self explanatory.

Had you bothered to ask, you would have realised you CAN post YouTubes without 15 posts, just not your own stuff or anything that advertises. In any event, we're all very busy here and it's not like we wait with bated breath for the next obscure song to drop into "Name that tune". As is mentioned in the sticky part (dunno if you read it) this is not a service we provide; it's just guys and girls doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. Sometimes nobody knows the song, sometimes people are too busy. Life, you know?

If you can't accept that then indeed, goodbye, but be aware you misread and misinterpreted our rules, as do about 90% of people here who are new.

Edit: the fifteen post rule exists for a reason. You would not believe the amount of people who post one-word replies in every thread they can just to get to 15 posts, shove their link and then **** off. That's not what we're about here. If you want to discuss music and be part of the community, that's fine; you'll take your time, look around, meet people, post here, post there. If you're just here to get an answer to a NTT (AND you read the rules PROPERLY) you can certainly do that. There is a difference. But we take a dim view of people trying to circumvent the rules for any reason, as would any forum.

Personally, I'm sorry your first/only experience with us was negative. We're a nice bunch really, you just have to take the time to get to know us.

99/10 when a n00b tries to post a link or video, they're spamming, so the mods are quick to pull the trigger. Nobody's perfect, and I'm sure a very few non-spammers get banned by accident, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles.
