Salutations All

Hello,

My name's Curt. I'm in America. I registered here a while ago and spent a little while lurking. Now that I've posted a few times, I decided to introduce myself since the opinions I have expressed haven't gotten me banned (thus far). So it goes...In any case, I've been a record collector for thirty five years. In general, we old record collectors tend to be somewhat opinionated. I hope no one's feelings get hurt, it's just that being a record collector for a lot of years means that I've listened to a GREAT deal of music (both good and bad). It's not always easy to see things from the other guy's (or gal's) perspective. Please hold back the tar & feathers...at least until I do something really offensive. I promise to try to play nice. I'm probably making myself sound worse than I am. I'm not an ogre after all. I'm a rooster.

Welcome to MB (officially.)

What are some of your favorite bands/artists?

rooster241 06-02-2015 06:05 AM

Thanks for the welcome. I like so much music that some times it's easier to start with the genres without getting too specific. For instance, I really enjoy Freakbeat (a British style that stood side by side with Psychedelia - a few groups: The Attack, The Birds, The Factory - some of the groups only had a single or two)

Jazz: pretty much all of it from Cakewalk and Ragtime to Cool, Hard Bop and Free Jazz with one or to exceptions.

Blues: Country Blues through today though the "today" part tends to be very selective.

Psychedelia: All of the usual suspects.

Acid Rock: All of those West Coast bands (North And South)

Country: Mostly the kind played on wooden instruments and Bluegrass.

and lots of other stuff.

Welcome aboard! It's great to see a fellow jazz fan around, especially one who digs early jazz.

Well Thanks, Nice to meetcha

Yeah, I can hold my own regardless of the jazz era, but I definitely dig some ragtime and Hot jazz. it's good for what ails you.

Welcome aboard. Don't worry, we'll spare the tar & feathers for now ;) People get opinionated, it happens, as long as you're prepared for someone to voice their own opinion(s) on the subject.

rooster241 06-03-2015 05:25 AM

I already have the feathers, just keep the Tar far away and in sealed container. That stuff flammable, you know.

As for the rest I appreciate the wise advice but you need fear not for my safety good minstrel, for I am a Veteran of Forum Wars.
