<Generic modestly witty introductory title>
Hello all, I'm Jonts from the northwest UK. Mainly I just like to pick up tipoffs for new avenues of music I like to explore, but and I'm more than happy to add the odd comment from time to time if it might help someone to do the same.
Seems customary to list music you like with your intro: suffice to say for gentler stuff I am very fond of singer songwriter types along the line of Jeff Buckley, Tori Amos, Dustin Kensrue, Nicks Cave and Drake...anyone with a distinctive and versatile voice. But then at the other end we've got some pretty dark, angry, noisy stuff like Architects, Deftones, Dillinger, Mudvayne, Tool....anyone with a decent drummer, it seems. Favourite band of all time has to be Thrice though, the Radiohead of the alternative rock/metal world. Hope to see you out there and make your acquaintance whoever you might be, I'm a firm believer that we're all dear friends that just haven't met or found the right common ground yet :yeah: |

I'll have you know I promptly looked up the definition of "disabuse" and learned something today, so for that I thankyou dear friend and hope your toast will forever fall buttered-side up.
|
I like you already.

Well this was unexpected, if you lot get any friendlier i'll have to go home to cry and then write a haiku at the very least.

I think it's cute that you consider those bands to be noisy.
And the fact that you said Thrice is the Radiohead of the metal world makes me want to punch you in the face. First off, Thrice isn't remotely metal. Secondly, even if they were, they still wouldn't be the Radiohead of metal. They aren't the Radiohead of anything. Welcome. |

You can't expect me not to say anything. I've been pretty good lately. You can't expect me not to say anything here. I had to say something. Also are you trying to tell me that you don't look like the biggest cock in the world, acting the way, using that avatar, it's like you're deliberately trying to look like a cock. |
I would agree that Thrice aren't/weren't (still unsure of their comeback status looking at the summer festivals) metal at the time of their hiatus announcement. Lets shake hands, remove the latter half of my description and call them alternative rock.
IMO they still warrant the Radiohead tag though, it's not 100% a complimentary one. I'm gonna like it here. |
Welcome to the insanity. Enjoy your stay.

Explain it to me because I am confused. |
If you're referring to the Radiohead tag, the fact that they change their sound with varying degree from album to album regardless of what their fanbase wants? The fact they like to dabble with electronic instruments? The fact they read lots of books? Take your pick.
I mean you no harm and intend no offense to Radiohead as a band if that's your preference, i'd be happy to discuss in a thread if you'd like to create one. |
No, I hate Radiohead.

Welcome.
