Hi Justin. I just replied to your PM.

If it's actually broadening your mind/musical taste you're after here, then check in with Goofle, Engine, bob, Janszoon ... hell, most of us. Other than me. I'm pretty mainstream, with my love of mostly Prog and AOR and some metal. But also check the "Recommendations" threads and the various "Education" threads. They'll help you. But everyone is (mostly) friendly here and you can ask what you want, just try not to ask a question that has already been answered a hundred times!

As for prog rock, man that's hard. I assume you have never heard ANY prog other than what you mention? If that's the case you could start with the classics --- Genesis, Yes, Camel, ELP, Rush to a degree (earlier 70s stuff mostly), some Supertramp, Pink Floyd, King Crimson --- or more contemporary but no less classic bands like Marillion, Arena, Mostly Autumn, Kamelot, and a whole ton more. Depends on what you're looking for really.

Check out my journal too for ideas.

I second the Supertramp recommendation. They've got a really good sound, which manages to feel completely unique. Also the Alan Parsons Project.

Is there a certain album from Supertramp that you could recommend?

Breakfast in America is their most well-known. You can't go wrong with either it or Crime of the Century.

I'm really into this band called wolves in sheepskin. They're nothing special though. Just another ****ty top 40 hits only band.

In reply to Pet_Sounds, I would have to say that currently I have just got into Led Zeppelin and they are my favorite band I have ever listened to. Other awesome bands and artists I like are Guns N' Roses, Thousand Foot Krutch, FM Static, Pantera, Hollywood Undead, Halestorm, Rainbow, Weird Al Yankovic, Dream Theater, Children of Bodom, tobyMac, Avril Lavigne, Queens of the Stone Age, DragonForce, Alter Bridge, Mastodon, Wintersun, Amaranthe, Yelawolf, Otherwise and Iggy Azalea.

Seams like a bit of a strange selection but there we have it.
I'm speechless.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.
