I Hate Myself and Want to Die
If only they let Mr. Cobain keep that album title. Hilarious, but I suppose the song title will have to do.
I've always loved Nirvana, and three days ago I got an anonymous gift on my birthday while at work. This decaying old man named Willard walked over to me and handed me the gift wrapped in silver paper with an ostentatious red bow glaring at me on top. He said it was from a girl, but she mentioned not to say who it was from. Surely it must've been someone who worked with me, but during my search for this warm-hearted individual who knew it was my birthday even though I told practically no one, I couldn't find the culprit. I didn't open it and continued with my work, puzzled. When I say work, I mean I work at Walmart. So unless you consider mindless scanning and such work, then I really mean I was sitting on the cold concrete in the back scanning a plethora of various make-up paraphernalia. Hard stuff. On my ride home, my curiosity overwhelmed me and I couldn't help but delve into my backpack to reveal the taunting package. I opened it at a stoplight and there it was. Kurt Cobain's journal in published print, something that I had skimmed through years ago but for some reason never bought it. Somebody knew I had wanted this, but who? I arrived home and I just needed to sit for a while. I stopped thinking about it and started jamming like usual. During a song, it popped in my head. SHE, popped in my head, the girl I hadn't spoken to for months. She would do something like that, she's very clever. She also was one of the few people that believed in me and my music. Receiving that gift in the way I did kind of revitalized me. I'm now 29 years old, an ex-music composition major who dropped out after 4 years (it was a 5 year degree... how stupid), and have created a band that will hopefully fulfill all of the desires I've had since I made a guitar out of a tissue box, rubberbands, and a cardboard toilet paper...holder...thing. I'm not here to promote music and then leave, I actually ENJOY talking about music for God sakes. The last online music community I was with kind of fizzled into nothingness. Hopefully you guys like talking music too. See ya around |

Well, there's me who started with a blues/rock background, then studied "Classical" music, then melded that into this rock sort of stuff. My roommate is an ex-raver and plays guitar, our bassist lived on my futon for 6 months or so and is a hippie jam band guy, and we have a jazz drummer.
The band makes music that is a heavy dosage of each ingredient, currently under the code name, "Cellar Door". |

...Wow, pretty eclectic mix then That's good though, it means you'll never run short of ideas [or originality].
Cellar Door haha, good one. Personally my favourite word in the English language is "susurrus" - I love the sibilance. Make sure you post some of your music [when you've done some recordings] in the forum member showcase, which is in the songwriting/ lyric writing thread I think. There's also an art thread in "The Lounge" and a picture thread in this forum if you want to ruin the mystery and show people your face. |
