new and don't know how to download music
Hello,
My name is Darryl Dayton. I recently purchased an RCA MP3+ and have done the download for it as well as the frostwire download per suggestion from others. I am 62 years old with limited computer skills (self taught) and can not figure out how to search for the old rock and roll music I want to download to my MP3 on the frostwire site. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Darryl |

No idea about frostwire (assuming you're legit and not a spammer trying to funnel traffic to frostwire?) but if you have limited computer skills be wary of file sharing. If anything you download unzips as an exe or similar assume it's a virus, delete it and try again. Also paranoia-wise it's probably not a good idea to use your real name and say hi I'm looking for illegal downloads.
You could also check this thread for alternatives: Sources of Free Music Last edited by Stephen; 05-13-2013 at 01:34 AM. |

You could always check this site too, where I buy most of my music: Download mp3 music from megaboon.com
Also check the computer tech support thread in the lounge subforum, where people will always be willing to help you with any questions you have about computers and such.... http://www.musicbanter.com/lounge/43...rt-thread.html

No spammer here. It is easy to find anyone's name on the net so I am not concerned about that. frost wire is legal file sharing of music and I am aware of viruses and am careful about clicking on attachments or zip files as well as have an anti-virus program. I thought someone could walk me through the process for frost wire here. |

Good to know. Welcome to MB.
Have you tried searching rock and roll blogs? If you have a particular artist in mind you can try googling. ie. chuck berry blogspot Usually if they have posted one artist of interest there will be more once you find a good blog. |

No, the program itself is legal.
If you download any copyrighted material off it that is illegal.

Explain please? I am an old guy and began recording my purchased vinyl albums onto cassettes with a cassette player/recorder when they became available. I certainly was not going to re-purchase the same music I already owned in order to play it in the new equipment that I also had to purchase to change with the times. I already own a bunch of CDs of the same music I had purchased years ago on vinyl that I want to now download on my new MP3 player. Are you telling me this is illegal? If so, then I am going to be a lawbreaker because I am NOT buying it again. I am assuming that music sharing is no different. Someone bought it, stored it on a file and is now sharing it with others. How is this different then me lending an old vinyl album to someone back in the day that wanted to record it to their cassette player? This can also go back to the days of sock hops when people would get together for a dance and bring their records for everyone to enjoy at the same time. If these music sharing sites are illegal then why haven't they been shut down by the law? I get that the music industry has created their own problem that they have yet to figured out how to encode with protection. It is my understanding that the only way artists are making money with their music today is by touring and playing live. Yes, it is a problem for them but it looks to me like they (or the industry) created their own problem. |
