Hi all, I'm a 35 y.o. male currently living in Kansas City and a newbie to this board, hence the intro post. Looking forward to discovering new music here and sharing in the joy of listening to some mutual favorites.

I guess I should describe the music I like. I'll start by saying that I don't pay much attention to lyrics, at least not initially. I hear the voice as just another instrument making a sound. As such, for me to like a piece of music, it needs to interest me sonically. With that said, I'd say my musical tastes span most genres, though I'm not a big fan of country for some reason.

Some of my favorite artists include (in no particular order): Mogwai, Yann Tiersen, Shannon Wright, Sage Francis, Satie, Sade, Regina Spektor, Radiohead, Mint Julep, Plaid, Helios, Sia, Rachel's (R.I.P. Jason Noble), Aphex Twin, Mozart, Bjork, and Notwist.

Gotta say that so far, I'm pleasantly surprised by the posts I see here... in just a few seconds of browsing I came across discussions about bands that I never expected would be discussed on an international forum (e.g. an old SF bay area emo band from the early nineties called Indian Summer). Looking forward to digging in some more. Cheers. :beer:
