Welcome, Caroline. Great to hear about your music-oriented family and the support your kids are getting; hopefully they'll get famous and be able to pay you back for your belief in them.

Don't worry about not knowing much about their sort of music or being out of place; there are plenty of different sub-forums here and people are always ready to help and advise. We even have a classical section, if you don't want to go too far off the beaten track!

But I'd definitely counsel you to join in a few threads, find some music style that either interests you or that you would like to know more about, and well, just basically have fun! Have a look at the journals section, where you'll find a lot of interesting music, and don't feel shy: start a thread if you want (just make sure you have checked to see there isn't one already, via the search facility).

Won't your boys be amazed when you can speak authoritatively about the best Cop Shoot Cop or Electric Wizard album, or go on at length about the dubstep or chillout genre? Or who were the movers and shakers in the NWOBHM movement?
