New Rules Regarding Links In Signatures As From Today
Rule Changes To Forum Signatures
The moderating staff have decided that the current rules for what is and isn't allowed in signatures is rather murky & confusing so we have decided to review the rules and as from today the following will apply. If you have been a member of the forum for over 3 months nothing has changed to affect you so none of the below will apply to you. If you have just joined us we ask that for the first 3 months of your stay here any links in your signature will have to be moderator approved. You do not need to do anything to get approval just put your link up, if it breaks any rules it will be removed and you will be informed why. If you ignore this warning your account will be banned. For your first 3 months here only the following links will be approved.
Links that will not be approved that you may include after you have been here for 3 months
And finally, links that are banned and will get you an instant ban if you include them
Also adding a youtube videos to your signature is annoying. You won't be banned but it will be removed. Please remember this all at the moderators discretion and our decision is final. Thank You |
Wait, so after 3 months, I can put links to pornography in my signature?
|
The last list is ones that will get you banned regardless of if you've been here 3 minutes or 3 centuries.

I'm kinda confused about the advertising part. Surely there are forms of advertising one could include that wouldn't be objectionable? Say for example I set up a website for my professional portfolio, or if I were to become involved in a business venture entirely my own.
Would that be entirely inadmissable as it's advertising, or would there still be the traditional leeway extended if it were a longstanding member such as myself? |

What if it's just like some dude's Deviant Art page (or whatever)? I mean, they're not really getting money from it and it's not like we've got fifty million people showing up just to advertise their Deviant Art page.
This is just me being curious, BTW. I don't actually have a Deviant Art page. |

I'd put DeviantArt in the same category as personal blogs or soundcloud pages.
|
This is intense they aren't fooling around

Good initiative and job clarifying those rules.

If you want to know how to "contribute" AND post your music, look at one of our members, Plankton. He chats with people, posts a lot, is friendly and nice to talk to, and he also plays guitar and posts his work in the Songwriting section. He should be your model. |

To quote Janszoon,

I blog professionally and I have a professional blog but my signature was banned. I looked at other peoples blogs in their signature and ours look on par with eachother. Why was my signature deleted?
|
If it's a personal one you can include a link after you've been here 3 months.
If it's a professional one (I.E. Someone else owns it and you're a paid employee) you cannot post it at all. |
When you remove someone's signature, why not replace it instead w/ "na na na na na na you can't link this" instead of "Sig removed please read rules. Mod." At least then the treatment of users as children would be "less" obvious.
|
You mean like that?
|
I thought you'd change it back almost straight away so I decided to screencap it

Exactly, but you forgot to sign it "sincerely I'm abusing my powers as a mod"
You should always sign your work, even if it is below average. |
Ha!
|
^that is not a signature.
I just noticed that you screen shot it, you should hang that on your fridge. |
