Never heard of it!
This site, that is. But eager to participate, as I can always talk about music.
By way of introduction, some lists: Favorite LP of the Moment: Tex Ritter - Border Affair (Sung entirely in Spanish. Unbelievably weird and cool!) Last three albums loaded to my I-Pod: 1. Hoppy Kamiyama - Forbidden Pleasures (Sort of the Japanese John Zorn, if John Zorn were a transvestite.) 2. Miki Sawaguchi - Big Boobs (Miki predates Sasha Grey by quite a bit in the whole Porn/Noise thing. Features Merzbow too.) 3. Skin - Shame Humility Revenge (Yet another Michael Gyra band that sound like his other bands, only weirder) Records I bought the last time I went 'hunting' (I don't usually buy this much at once but I had a big store credit and there was a lot of good vinyl to be had and this will probably get me through most of the summer): Edgar Froesse - Aqua Die Antwoord - Tension Trini Lopez - The Latin Album (God DAMN this is good!) Trini Lopez - The Second Latin Album Cajun Abeville Breakdown 1929-39 King Crimson - Wake of Poseidon Japan - Oil on Canvas Dos - Dos y Dos John Coltrane - Sun Ship Evangelista - Prince of Truth Evangelista - In Animal Tongue Girls in the Garage 14 Miles Davis Quintet - Steamin' Hollie Cook - With Dub Scientist - Scientific Dub Blood Orange - Coastal Grooves Bing Crosby - Sings Songs of the Islands Michael Doucet - Dit Beausolil Minutemen - 3-Way Tie for Last Esquivel - Other Worlds Other Sounds Keith Stewart - Yellow Bird Hoagy Carmichael sings Hoagy Carmichael Charlie Haden - The Golden Number Perez Prado - Havana 3AM The Residents - God in 3 Persons Eugene Chadbourne - There'll Be No Tears Tonight DAO + COH - Dzerzhinsk-9 Shockabilly - Earth vs. Shockabilly Best of Louis Jordan (Double LP with 'Beans & Cornbread' Yes!) The Monks - Black Monk Time Mayo Thompson - Corky's Debt to His Father Laurel Halo - Quarantine (Coolest cover of the year so far) So you can see I like it eclectic. Feel free to recommend some good discussion groups full of like minded folks. Hello! |
