Hey all,

I'm Nik. I'm 25 and have been drumming since I was about 14. I haven't been on a music forum since around 2006 after Taborama went down (I was a mod there for the last year-ish).

I have an incredibly varied taste in music. I routinely enjoy everything from Korn to Luke Bryan to Beethoven. Marianas Trench to DMX to Gotan Project. Steve Jablonski to Steve Miller to Steve Vai.

That's not to say I like everything I hear. I'm not much a fan of Bieber and the like. Aside from that, I'm always looking for new music to enjoy.

Instrument-wise, I have a 6-piece Tama Rockstar Custom drum set with an extra Mapex Black Panther snare drum and a variety of Sabian cymbals. I also have a set of Roland V-Drums which I am forced to use right now as I am stuck in an apartment building.

Look forward to combing over these boards.

Welcome. Good to have another drummer on the board. Play djembes/congas/bongos or anything like that?

Nice varied taste in music. What are you into currently, at this moment? What albums have you been spinning a lot?

What kind of music do you play? Obviously no band spamming, but you can talk about how you play and such. :)

I've never really played any hand drums, tapped around a few times but that's all. I'm always looking to learn.

At this moment I've been spinning a lot of folk, country, and video game soundtracks (namely the Mass Effect series soundtracks). Strange bedfellows indeed.

I play pretty well all the backbeats: rock, punk, funk, hiphop, metal, swing, etc.

I highly suggest them. They are great for bringing that special something into a song.

Hahaha. Been there, done that. Mass Effect has good music. So who, specifically, on the folk and country side? Nick Drake? Johnny Cash? Blind Lemon Jefferson?

Ha, think more pop than that (although, Cash for sure). Brooks & Dunn, Church, Moore, Jackson, Eaglesmith. The folk stuff is mostly guys from around Northern Ontario, but I've also been checking out some Dewey Balfa and other Cajun folk.

15 pieces of spam and no post-count.

The word is a cruel place, ain't it Gregory?
