Hello, I've been looking for a new music forum lately and I thought this seemed like a good place with plenty of knowledge to go around. I'm currently dj assistant for a "world" music show at a local radio station, and have worked at a music history museum in Seattle in the past.
I live in the US but listen to a fairly wide selection of music from all over the world. A few of my favorite genres include rap francais (french hip hop), Malian folk music, and jazz hop, though I also have an affinity for downtempo/ambient music, jazz, and various others. I have to say I'm a bit confused as to why the international music section is locked, and would like to know if there is a reason for that or not. Thanks, Ashbery Last edited by Ashbery; 07-29-2011 at 06:58 PM. |

Welcome,
To answer your question it's because we don't have enough talk about it to justify having its own subforum so we merged it with the country subforum (Which also didn't have enough traffic). |

Anyway, welcome to MB! Tell me about Malian folk music! I think the only musicians I know from Mali are Amadou & Miriam. |

Welcome to MB, Ashbery !
I hope you like it here. There are plenty of us who`d like to hear about Malian folk music. If you want, you could nominate something for our album club to discuss too:- http://www.musicbanter.com/country-f...lbum-club.html |
