If you're looking to give back a little to the forum and have some fun, sign up for the MB Welcoming Committee. All that's involved is making sure every new member that signs up and makes a thread feels welcomed and at home on MB. Link them to the rules, answer a few of their questions and ask a few of your own. Get the ball rolling and link them to some threads of interest.

The goal of starting this committee is to make sure no (introduction) thread gets left behind. Make sure everyone who makes a thread is properly introduced to the site.

Nice idea.
I once gave a new member 15 minutes to write an essay on their favourite group, under threat of banning.
They did it too. With a minute to spare.

Pretty cool idea Conan. I don't want to be a part of it but I will say that it would be a good idea to link them to popular threads in specific forums depending on the info they have given (like what bands they listen to). I feel like right now like 95% of new members sign up and make an intro thread and are never heard from again. I think extra effort would make the chances of new members sticking around a lot better
