My first ever Music Forum membership :)
Hey everyone,
Like it sais, this is my first ever music forum membership. I've been spending the last few years focusing on my own personal music career that I began to feel a bit cut off from all the other music in the world around me, so I wanted to create something that would allow me to reach out to people like yourselves. I live in the town of Guildford in the UK, about a 40 minute drive outside of London. I just graduated from The Academy of Contemporary music and I'm the guitar player for rock group The Royal Cartel. I wanna know what people have been listening to!!! Post me stuff!!! This website seems really thought as well which is cool. Although I play in a locally well known rock group I spend most of my time listening to other things. Used to be a big metal head when I was a teenager, but now truly find myself listening to everything. Cheers guys! |

Welcome Michael!
Nice introduction. But you probably forgot what we all want to know; What do you listen to yourself? And I'm glad to hear from a musician that's interested in other music but their own. Musicians more than once lack interest in music. Which is a strange thing if you ask me

Hi, MichaelMFM -Welcome to MB !
I lived in Guildford myself for about 10 years and saw lots of bands at Guildford Civic Hall. What kind of rock does The Royal Cartel play ? Your own material or covers ? Don`t tell me that your band is named in honour of a big old pub- and sometime music venue- called The Royal, Stoughton !?! |

Hey Lisnaholic,
We play mostly our own stuff. Actually, we only play our own stuff really. We trying to become one of the biggest bands in the area before we move out into London and then eventually the rest of the UK and hopefully the rest of the world. If you wanted to check out some of The Royal Cartel's music you can find us on the ol' facebook. Type in The Royal Cartel at the top or even on google and you'll find us. So what bands did you see at the Guildford Civic? They just finished building a new venue here at the top of town called GLive which seats about 1,700 I heard. Opens in September, but looks really nice. What have you been listening to lately? |

Hi Michael !
I`ll have a look for your band on Google to get an idea of what you play. It was quite a while ago that I used to go to the Civic and the only concerts that are good enough to remember after all those years were Genesis, Soft Machine, Captain Beefheart. Oh,and local boy, Eric Clapton too. Good luck getting into the London scene - at least there are lots of small venues/pubs that like to have live bands. After you have headlined at the opening concert of GLive, they`ll be begging to have you ! These days, I listen to world music, mainly, or instrumental jazz/rock that I`ve discovered thanks to the guys on MB: Ozric Tentacles, Gong and Dûn among others. BTW, I see your post count is still at zero - you should get in there among the threads and start posting, Michael |
