Hello Music Banter-ers....

Hello everyone! My name is Anastacia and I am new. Here's the basics:

Stats: I'll be 31 years old next month and I live in Wisconsin. I am a microfilm technician, basically I pull staples and take pictures of paper....nothing too exciting.

Hobbies: Anything music related - I loooooove finding new bands, I get to as many concerts as I can, I sing loudly/constantly/badly, and I play guitar (even more badly, haha!) I spend a completely obscene amount of time daydreaming and then trying to make my real life even half as interesting as the one in my head. I also spend a lot of time on photography. And eating tacos. I love tacos.

Musical Interests: Whew, where to start? I truly believe that there are things to like about all styles of music but I guess the majority of what I listen to is indie and folk type stuff. Some of my favorite bands are Belle & Sebastian, Andrew Bird, anything involving Conor Oberst, I'm currently having a huge Delta Spirit obsession, Arcade Fire, Ben Kweller, Iron & Wine, Cory Chisel (Yay Wisconsin!), Mason Jennings, JBM, Joshua James, Jens Lekman, Darren Hanlon, Wilco, Spoon, Sondre Lerche, Patrick Park, Nick Drake, Radiohead, etc, etc. I'm willing to give a listen to anything really.

Random other stuff: I am very open minded and tend to easily accept others for who they are even when I don't understand or agree with them. I am terribly socially awkward, give me another 5 minutes and I will say something to make myself look like a complete idiot! I have more fun sitting around alone in my house listening to music than I do hanging out with even my best of friends. I make an attempt to live my life with the best of intentions for myself and everyone around me. I try to just send love out into the world and hope that I get some back eventually! People often think I am strange, I contribute this to a tendency for quirkiness and an overactive imagination.

I have an incredible passion for music, to the point that it sometimes negatively affects my life (such as when I took a 4 dollar paycut just so I could have a job where I could listen to my Ipod all day.....yeah.) I wouldn't change it though. I'd rather be happy and poor than miserable and rich! I guess I am here because I don't have anyone in my life that shares my passion for music, and since it's such a huge part of my life, that kinda sucks! I can be a little hesitant at first but once I start to feel more comfortable you won't be able to get me to shut up. :) So I guess that's it. I look forward to talking with some of you!

Thanks Dr. Seussicide! Haha, I like your name! I'm excited to get to know everyone, and even more excited that someone here likes the stuff I do!

Hehehe, I can somewhat relate :p: I have friends who are passionate about music, but I don't see them every day and there are times when I'm talking with other people that I start to worry if I'm boring them too much with my music chit-chat about artists or music scenes they have little knowledge about :p:

But anyways, merry christmas and a warm welcome to our community! Don't forget that if there's something you're unsure of, we have a newbie guide stickied in the introductions forum and you can of course always ask one of us mods too, for example with a private message. Our names are in blue :)

Thanks Tore! Merry Christmas to you as well! And I understand what you are saying. I constantly feel like I am driving people CRAZY when I talk about music but I can't help it! Sometimes it's just so exciting if a really great album has just come out or you've been to an incredible show, you have to talk about it!

Welcome Anastacia.

You definately scored a massive amount of (my) points just because of your introduction post. It's great :D.

Hello Ananstacia, I'm new to the site as well. Glad you're an open minded person, I actually have a suggestion of a new band that may spark you or anyone else on this site interest. Go to youtube.com / heycalvi they have a bunch of really well directed and very well thought out videos. I would introduce them as a rap band. But I think they are fittingly Alternative. Check it out and tell me what you think.

And I'm not allowed to call this guy here a bot.
He even replies when I call him one ;D.

Favorite Christmas song, huh? That's a tough one...I must apologize here because I never have straight answers for anyone, it's always an argument in my head!

As far as a classic Christmas song I like O Holy Night, which if you knew me better you would know is really a pretty strange pick for me. I just like something about the way that song is constructed, the way it builds, and the dramatic-ness of it I guess.

On the other hand, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by James Taylor brings good memories of my mum so I like that one.

Last, and newest, I would say that I enjoyed that Christmas song the Mynabirds put out this year - All I Want Is Truth (For Christmas). There are others I like as well, I think not having to hear these ones in the store/on the radio/etc constantly may somewhat effect my picks too.

Sorry to be complicated. :)

Careful, this one replies. It's annoying.
