Default Wotcher

Wotcher

1977 - First record is bought for me - Ed Stewpot Stewarts' Childrens
Favourites. Evident from the word go it is chuffing awful.
1981 - Sixth birthday and second time lucky. Instructed to choose a record
from Woolies to shut me up. I have never heard of Madness but Grey Day
is chosen because i like the picture on the front.
1987 - Chance upon Westwoods' Capital Rap Show. 12 year old white
suburban kid falls in love with hip-hop.
1989 - Befriend Chris at school who's brother conveniently has the best
record collection for miles around. Spacemen 3, MBV, Tackhead, Bitch
Magnet, Bongwater, Pixies etc etc. 14 year old is mindblown for the second
time in two years.
1990 - C4 shows Ibiza doc, Granada shows Madchester doc. Fringe is
grown, poncho is purchased.
1991 - C4 shows documentary commemorating 15 years of punk - Pistols,
Clash, Jam, Banshees, Ruts, Joy Div. Speechless.
1993- Britpop arrives like a bad smell so turn my back on indie and lap up
the ruffneck Jungle business and all types of electronica (or dance music as it
used to be known?), even big beat (!). Thankfully miss all the Oasis
kerfuffle.
1997 - GF buys O.K Computer which sounds interesting and convinces me
to dip toe back into guitar music, turns out I hadn't missed much.

These days just try to soak up as much stuff as possible regardless of genre
although i'm more Rudimentary Peni than Robbie Williams when it comes
down to it.

Looking forward to having a natter about the platters that matter (as Ed
Stewpot Stewart might have said)

P.S Joe Strummer is Jesus and i'll fight anyone who says it aint so

Thanks for the welcome, and yes I did indeed buy a poncho.
Or rather an XXL hooded top with a poncho stitched on top of it.
Magic times
