Default Howdy folks, Newbie here

What's up everyone? Just stumbled across this site while surfing, and it seems pretty cool. I discovered Femi Kuti a few summers ago, downloaded an album, and lo and behold, it turned out he was playing in my town two nights later. Amazing show, and a very fortuitous coincidence. Anyway, I've been an afrobeat junkie ever since. I love funk in all its forms, from Parliament and James Brown to Infectious Grooves and Primus, and I was reared on classic rock and Motown, of course.

I'm quite possibly the world's worst guitarist, but I think I'm a pretty good lyricist. I'm going to try posting some of my songs to see what people think. In the meantime, I'd love to get adopted by someone who knows world funk inside and out, because I feel like I still have a lot to learn.

Glad to be here. Cheers!

Funk is where it's at. My favourite band of all time is the Meters – if you don't know these guys, please PLEASE check them out. They're from New Orleans, began in the 60s and are still active. Their drummer is called Zigaboo Modeliste and he is – surprisingly – my favourite drummer.
