Hi Who Dey85 and welcome to MusicBanter!

I'm glad to hear 60s and 70s music isn't going to die out anytime soon, thanks in part to you and other people your age. I can't say I'm a big fan of techno, either, though I do like some sinister dubstep songs and weird electronica. Here's one of my favorites (below). And it has no computer singing to complain about!

I hope you'll enjoy the site and maybe even develop some affection for country. ;)

Welcome to the forums ^_^ I hope you enjoy it. I'm also new here and I find the forum to be quite the interesting meld of musical ideas and discussions so far. I listen to 60s/70s music all the time(I'd rather listem to some Hollies, The Who or Guess Who, Pink Floyd or Queen any day of the week) with only doses of 80s-00s when I feel like some hardcore dancing. I agree with you that the crap that makes it to the mainstream nowadays is a pathetic excuse for music, but as a person once said, "There is a big difference between an artist and a musician".

And as for country, country has been trying to become rock for quite some time. I dislike most of the country music made in the 80s to now but I can't say I hate Johnny Cash or John Denver or many other country artists before the 80s. I actually enjoy some country-rock melded music sometimes like Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Ozark Mountain Daredevils. So you're not the only one that thinks country has lost its way ;)

I am surrounded by country music. I live in a small town in Ohio. So its filled with country music. I guess I am not liking how its basically turning into rock. Any more I am finding it to be rock music with a country twain.

I didn't know Ohio was a hotbed of country music! Maybe small towns in Iowa are the same. I don't care for a country twang in music when I think the twang is intentionally inserted, and the musicians' garb is intentionally countrified--fringe, cowboy hat, boots --as some sort of statement about unity with a culture I never found particularly admirable to begin with.

I don't mind the costumes of the Village People, though! But maybe that's because the group is kind of like anti-matter to country's matter. :p:

Gaspeth! I live off of techno! Actually, not all techno is bland, repetitive and bad. There's a kind of Techno called IDM that I live off of, and it's actually a really good genre. here are a few Trip Hop/IDM songs you may like:
