Hello from Portland, Oregon.

I am new to this forum as you can tell, and I came here to talk about music and seek help with my drumming. I just got a First Act drum set, 5 piece, and thought what better to get started than to join a music/instrument community. I haven't really played the drum set yet because I have no idea what I'm doing. I have always wanted to get into drums, and I finally am. I am into the Rock/Metal/Screamo genre of music, and would like to play that genre too, maybe some other songs in other genres. Some of my favorite bands are:

Attack Attack!
Of Mice & Men (No not the book.)
Protest the Hero
We Came as Romans
Rancid
The Melvins
Genghis Tron

So anyways, if anyone has any equipment tips, technique tips, or anything else like that.
