I don't think this is true. Many people here appreciate catchy music, just not music the positive attributes of which are solely its catchiness.

Catchiness isn't a bad thing, but a great pop song is one that is not only catchy but also meaningful in some way.

Example:



One of my favorite pop songs of the decade.
