How the devil are you?

Hi its nice to be back on here.

Was on here moons ago as "Dezzy".
Forgot the password and sadly neither "Abracadabra" or "Open Sesame" did the job so i decided to rejoin with a new moniker.

I've gone for the name Mancini Scratch as I think it sounds very cool and suave. Much cooler and suave than I actually am. Yes I'm living in a bubble. That bubble is soundtracked by music so its not a bad place to be and neither is here for all things music and beyond.

After a quick flit about the boards I'm pleased to see some familar characters still kicking around from my past times on Music Banter.

Respect MB Heads of old... Right Track, Satchmo, and others the I can't recall right bout now!

My musical taste like most on here is eclectic. Tend to like old stuff.

Reggae with penchant for Lovers Rock, Dub, Roots.
Loads of Electric Guitar loves from 60's to now.
Anything really.

Call me Dezzy, Call me Scratch, Call me Mancini. But please don't call me AL.

Peace out and forward looking to chat with you all.

Fuckin hell! :D

NumberNineDream 02-13-2010 06:53 PM

what kind of 60s music do you like (examples of bands would be appreciated)

Mancini Scratch 02-13-2010 06:55 PM

I take the effin an jeffin to mean some surprise in my re-appearance Right Track.

Anyway what kind of welcome is that?

Must confess I chose Mancini as part of my name because I saw your Avatar in all its Redness!

How you been anyway?

bandteacher1 02-13-2010 06:56 PM

It's good to see you back here after all these years Dezzy lad. :)
Welcome back mate.

Members of MB: This is Dezzy and he originally joined around the same time as me back in 2005...ish?
He's a fellow Mancunian and an all round good bloke. (despite being born on the wrong side of town)
It'd be nice to see a big MB welcome back for this geezer.

Aye up NND...

I tend to listen to a lot druggy 60's as well as the pop from the decade.

Velvet Underground, Canned Heat, Love, Doors, Loads of stuff like that.

Also Mersey Beat Stuff. The Beatles, Searchers. All sorts.

What about you. Do you dig the 60's groove?

I've been searching for more 60s stuff, for more than a year now. That decade can get you easily hooked.
That's the first time I hear about Canned Heat btw, what are they about?

Hello and cheers for the welcome bandteacher1.

Take note Right Track...
Bandteacher1 knows how to say hello without swearing.;)

NumberNineDream 02-13-2010 07:11 PM

Hello again, here are two threads that would surely help you in your 60s search (I know they helped me a lot)...

You're so bang on there NND. The 60's are addictive.
Well... it was a decade of Weed and trips (allegedly).

Canned heat are a great band from then. Lead singer called Blind Owl. An absolute Mountain of a man. He's long time dead now I'm sad to say. I can hear influences vocally from a band of 90's/00's called Gomez whose singer's name escapes me. Definate vibes of the Owl I reckon.

The most well known songs by Canned Heat are probably "Going up the Country", "On the road Again" and "Let's Work Together". Maybe others.

Some good stuff I've heard on Albums are "Amphetamine Annie", a great Song with great guitar and importantly as stated at the beginning by Blind owl... " A song with a message".

Also Check one called "Fried Hockey Boogie". Its very long. Abut 10 minutes I think but I'm sure you'll fnd it has a whole heap of things in it.

That's great of you to big me up in such style amongst the community.

I take it the community is still hugely global?

My side of Town is the only side that matters Right Track. You know that pal. Southside is where its at!

My team has had a turnaround since 2005. Even managed to beat you lot more often in recent years. Yes I accept you knocked us out of cup ths year... but we'll not dwell on that fact if you don't mind.

I KNOW!

And if you know any 60s Psych albums not mentioned in the other thread, feel free to write reviews.

A hardy welcome (back) from me.

Favorite things to do while not on mb? Besides masturbating?

NND…Reviewing an album in said thread sounds appealing. I’m amazed by amount of albums displayed. Amongst the familiar, a vast collection of potential unknown gems within. Gonna be an exciting voyage of discovery.
Peace Out.

Whappen! Storymilo. Thanks for the welcome (back) from you, and for the two questions…

For the first of the questions I’ve been a bit lazy of late so I’ve not done much more than watch a lot of TV. Been enjoying latest series in UK of Big Bang Theory. Also latest series of Skins. Not sure where you reside and to whether these TV Series are familiar to you. Watched a few films. I like Film. Especially World Cinema. In particular ones from France, Japan & Scotland. I like a good Pub night also…Not as often as I’d like as “Money’s too tight to mention”.

“Besides Masturbating?” (HaHa)…

Not a problem for me. I’m a Eunuch!

Top one one Kayleigh. I appreciate you overcoming your feeling of Weirdness to take the time to not only welcome me but encourage me to stick around. Does your name have anything to do with Marillion (sp) fronted by Fish?

Nah I just found it weird how I was welcoming you to somewhere you'd been long before me!

I assume you mean the song Kayleigh that has plagued my life :D? ahah. I actually don't know wither I was named after that or not. I looked it up kinda hoping that I was older than that song, but it's an '85 tune. I hope I wasn't  My mum will have questions to answer when she gets home..

If it turns out your Ma did name you after Kayleigh take some consolation in the fact is was Marillion's Highest UK Chart hit making No. 2 in the Charts and remaning for 11 weeks in Top 40. Back then such statistics were an amazing acheivement.

If your name was selected by such musical influences thank God your not called Marianne, Carrie, or Jesus for that matter as this would indicate a Mum that liked Cliff Richard. No offence to Cliff as a geezer but I'd rather be forced to listen someone being sick out of every orifice possible whilst Mick Hucknall sang endlessly live on stage in the background!

Yeah I'd take Marillion over Cliff anytime. Although the latter has had many more hits and got to number one many times over. What does that tell us?

Cheers AwwSugar...

Saddle-Sore's literal post didn't register with the I.

Its quite quirky really. For some reason I've chuckled because of it.
I'm in a good mood.

Hope you all happy!
