who is bigtex?

i jumped right in to posting and posting on music banter without seeing this part of the site...im a film student from dallas. dont know what i would do without music especially in a city like dallas where they have such great artists stopping by all the time on their way to/from austin. i've played the drums for 8 years for whoever needed me but its more just for my enjoyment than anything else. i like tons of music so usually my ipod is on shuffle. the mix of different genres always keeps my attention as long as country has no part in it.

Welcome to Music Banter.

I'm sure there's good country music out there. Be open-minded.

I love it when people say "I like all kinds of music but country". To me that's the musical equivalent of saying "I'm not racist, but". Now I know it's a bit of a stretch and I'm by no means saying you're racist, it's just how I feel. That said, you should check out my Gothic Country and Americana thread, it may just change your mind.

Also welcome to Music Banter.

i'll jump on the country band wagon too,...specially with you being texan AND in dallas,....

silly boy, there is so much wonderful music this state had produced dont close yourself off of it,...or the prospects of cheese burgers at adair's

I guess i should have been more specific when i said country. i have given country its fair chance in my music collection and the only artists that seem to make the cut for me are older musicians like willie nelson, hank williams sr., and the country that johnny cash put out during his career. older country yes...todays pop country no. if you know of some great old country coming out of this state that i might be missing out on please let me know. I'd like to add that I'm not a racist and some of the reason for my opinion about country music is the fact that i was raised in the south dallas area where not much country is played in the schools and social events
