Lol... minor setbacks, good match though. We're getting that premiership title this year this year however... it's been long awaited

I, too, inherited a guitar (last year) and have been enjoying playing guitar ever since. Sorry about the fingers. I try to space out my practicing so it doesn't hurt much. I've found the electric guitar strings to be much, much easier on my fingers, so that is one of many reasons I prefer the electric guitar to my acoustic. I am not familiar with Italian music and will have to look into it! Hip hop, rap, and death metal are not my favorite genres, either, but I've tried to learn more about rap and metal, at least, through MB, by listening to songs people recommend. I enjoy the "stickies" at the top of each genre section describing the evolution of the various genres. Very helpful! Even if I don't like a genre, it is interesting to learn more about it, and usually understanding breeds some affection. Finally, lyrics that are interesting and provoke thought are vital to me, so I agree with you on the importance of lyrics! Again, welcome. It's been a while since I've been to Oslo so it is always fun to have new members whose location reminds me of the wider world out there.

The fingers are getting better, I think the tips are already forming callouses and it doesn't hurt nearly as much anymore. As for Italian music, I usually advise people to start with Ramazzotti or Conidi as their songs are very easy on the ears, and they've both got great voices. If you're into Bob Dylan or Tom Waits, then I suggest trying De Andre or Vinicio Caposella, as their songs have a far greater debth to them than the two I mentioned above...the drawback is that the lyrics and meaning of their songs essentially are 60% of it. Before I started translating them I thought their songs were good, then when I actually understood I was "swept away", to use a nice little cliche. I may define Death Metal wrong (I've got nothing against Alice Cooper), but, well I can't post links yet but if youtube search Constitutional Masturbation then you'll see what I mean when I say that I just can't stand it, whatever it is called. Lastly, I'd just like to thank everyone who's welcomed me, I really appreciate it. |
