Why, Hello!
Hey,
Im Rob, 27 year old guitarist and producer from Guildford, UK. Thought I'd join up as this looks like a fairly vibrant and active community! I'm in a touring rock band called Midgar, am looking to post up some info on them once the board allows me too! Not spam, more sharing - have free tracks to send out too, but that'll wait till I can present it properly! Hope you're all good! Rob |

I did a reply to your post but it wouldn't let me post as it considers your link to be againt the rules too!
I have read the rules now, and it appears half the threads on here are 'advertising' or 'promoting' bands and music, therefore violating the rules... Also, there seems to be a sex related thread running violating the rules... I've joined and started making intelligent/helpful contributions to many threads on these forums and in return, I have my signature quashed - which is mearly a link to my music related hobbies - which I deem 'sharing' on a music forum, not spamming or selling a product, there hasn't even been a mention of a band name! Still, lesson learned I guess. I'm not sure its worth sticking around here and it seems while this forum is quite active, a lot of the posters in the threads seem pretty hostile. |

Promoting your own band is a prerogative of members who have been here and contributed for a reasonable amount of time. The MB community isn't hostile in general, except towards promotion because it clutters the forums. If we let one person promote their band/label/site we have to let everyone else do it and the forum just ends up being a cesspool of single post spam threads with the actual discussion buried beneath. There are countless people each week who register, spam their way to 15 posts, post a link to their band and never return again.

Well, not going to argue with you - that does no one any favours, but I feel after reading a fair few introduction threads and general threads asking for advice, that there is a large amount of belittling, humiliating and general negative behaviour going on - and of course, a complete disregard for your rules, that you only apply as you see fit - that sex thread seems pretty healthy and unrestricted to me... Don't want to be a part of that thanks. |

No, im not sulking im afraid.
I'm at work and flicking through pages on coffee breaks. To sulk would mean that I was actually bothered, which im just not - i've got better things to do with my time that cry about this forum. Thats not even meant as an insult to you guys either! The basic situation is; I joined here, had a read and a post, have decided that I probably won't fit in here very well, and so have decided to leave and am awaiting my account to be closed by one of your moderator guys. Think thats a fair and mature way to behave don't you? So I'm going to stop at this post thanks - feel free to flame away here, or whatever else you guys want to do, im all good with it! Rob |
