Introducing Myself - Ricky 'Lectrik
Hi! You'll know me as Ricky 'Lectrik.
I am a new/training/budding/grasshopper songwriter/guitarist and I am here to get a little more involved in seeing what others who have the love for music are talking about. Hopefully I will gain a little more perspective that can aid me in my own goals. I am currently putting in an avg. of 5 hours of practice daily, focusing on music theory, and working on progressing smoothly from a variety of chords and strum patterns. My music goals involve auditioning for the Guitar Institute of Technology in Los Angeles and starting a Geek/Rock band. I am mostly influenced by Weezer and I am trying my best to learn all of their songs at the moment and start dissecting them. I also enjoy chess and soccer. |

Oh well... HI Ricky.
Don't go to GIT, big waste of time from what I hear. Cuomo went if I remember correctly? Try writing songs more rather than practicing wankery...etc. Welcome!

Hi, Ricky,
A belated hello and welcome! How lucky you are to be able to spend 5 hours per day with your musical training! Your theory work should be very useful in allowing you to play whatever music you wish without technical issues getting in the way. As a new guitar player, I would love to be able to practice guitar more often so that finding particular chords up and down the neck will hopefully become automatic rather than something I do by ear and trial/error. Say, I am also newly involved with writing songs, in my case finding a use for a lifelong love of writing rhyming poetry (very out-of-vogue in poetry circles, and not yet *completely* out-of-vogue in musical circles, I'd say). I have never heard of Weezer and will have to listen to them! Ahh..yes...I *have* heard of them (just listened)...such as Island of the Sun. Hey! I know a lot more of their songs! I just didn't know they were all by Weezer. Fun, fun, fun songs! Again, welcome. --Erica Last edited by VEGANGELICA; 06-20-2009 at 02:05 AM. |
