Hello.

I'm new here, obviously, so I'm here to introduce myself. My name is Bob, for internet purposes. I'm a big fan of rock music, and am also trying to increase my knowledge of jazz, classical, and electronic. I play the cello and recently started learning electric bass.

So, nice to meet all of you.

It's the Bobster! Welcome. Where are you from?

Bob le Samourai 05-13-2009 03:11 PM

Waco, Texas. Not exactly a thriving music community, but it is relatively close to Austin.

Someone I knew died at Waco.
Welcome anyway. :)

A lot of the standard indie/art rock fare. Modest Mouse, Pixies, Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, Interpol, that sort of thing. Loads of alternative bands you don't me to tell you about. I like the heavier, jazzier, more psychedelic end of prog rock, like Pink Floyd, Can, and The Mars Volta. Fusion-era Miles is a must. Really, I love most anything with a sense of mystery and a strong atmosphere. My one bias is against the majority of metal.

In the Branch Davidian raid, you mean? That's one of the many reasons I hope not to live in Waco any longer than I have to. We do have the Dr. Pepper Museum too, you know. :D

Fix'd. I couldn't help it, he has the best album ever for his avatar!

For that, you have my respect. :D

I'm surprised the local SWAT team haven't burned that place to the ground by now. ;)

I like Le Samourai better, but I must say my favorite from him is Army of Shadows.

Undoubtedly the best album cover ever. My original idea was a still from the music video of "Goliath" where Cedric is dressed as the Elephant Man and Omar is playing a violin, but the resolution wasn't high enough for it to be clear what was what.
