How come few newbies stick around? They introduce themselves, often with great gusto, post maybe a dozen posts, and are never seen again. What's that all about?

Nothing different than the rest of the internet. Even in real life for that matter. People join clubs and organizations all the time and the majority drop out soon after for many reasons. Hopefully you stick around however, seem like a good poster.

You can't post links until you've hit 15 posts. It's just a preventative feature built into the forum. After that you're good to go, assuming it's not spam or self promotion.
