Default Greetings and salutations

Hey. I've been lurking and freeloading on musical recommendations for a couple months. I decided to join just so I could say thanks to someone( I don't remember which poster) for posting a Mazzy Star recommendation. You might have changed my life. I have been playing their concert album heavily the last few days.

As far as personal info: I'm a middle-aged hillbilly from rural Tn., with a wife who says I have a musical obsession (she sure does think it's neat when I burn her a CD of new stuff she likes). I live about 100 miles from Nashville, but have no idea what is on country radio. I do like a lot of bluegrass and alt-countryish stuff. I have what I considered to be a decent digital library, but after looking at the music some of you guys have collected, I am not sure that my 1000ish albums is even a good start.

As far as some artists I like: My top 5 artists for the week according to last.fm are Mazzy Star, Portishead, Massive Attack, The police, and Drive-By Truckers. The list will look different in another 7 days.

I'll probably continue to lurk much more than I post. But, I am apt to ask for a link or PM on some of the interesting recommendations I see.

1000ish albums isn't a bad start mate.
Welcome to MusicBanter.

I've got plenty of time for the Drive By-Truckers after hearing their contribution to a Bettye LaVette album. Double welcome.
