I'm a musician for a few years now, maybe four or five. I play guitar and sing, and I write for everything.
I've got a few guitars, but my favourite is The Else, which is a guitar I built from parts. It looks and plays like crap for everyone else (high action and scalloped frets just work for me ![]() Edits for the sake of not seeming like a boring person, and looking over other intro threads. Ok, I'm 17, I have gone through the pop, metal, and elitist phases of musical growth, now settling somewhere in the area of "I listen to John Mayer and Mastodon". I'll be boastfull and generic and say I've got a wide taste for music. Right now I'm listening to some John Mayer stuff (I really like his pop music), but recently I've been listening to a lot of A Perfect Circle and He is Legend (they seem to be pretty obscure, despite the press they got on a few magazines a while ago). Maynard Keenan and Schuylar Croom are actually two of my heavy writing influences (lyrically at the least). Instrumentally, I've got a wide range of influences, from Stevie Ray Vaughan and Hendrix, to Death Cab for Cutie, to Tears for Fears. Yes. Tears for Fears. Though they don't show up unless I'm playing improv. they tend to stay away from composed material (something I like, because I don't feel like I'm being judged by influences in my writing). I've recently started a goal of writing a complete song's worth of lyrics a day, to get better at it. I have a thread in the songwriting area, that I'll update, so long as the CnC is positive, and not stuff along the lines of "this is ****". *shrug* we'll see what happens. There we go, made that a bit more interesting. I bet it's tl;dr material now though =3= Last edited by ArchAngel1024; 02-23-2009 at 09:51 PM. |
