Default Make way for the Newbie

What's happenin' people? I'm Tobias, and I was looking for a forum to discuss my music tastes and find out about other music, and just interact with other music lovers.

A few of my favorites are:

Rock:
-Sum 41
-Nirvana
-Green Day
-Linkin Park
-Tokio Hotel
-Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
-Boys Like Girls
-HelloGoodbye

Rap:
-Ludicris
-Eminem
-Beastie Boys
-MC Chris

Country:
-George Strait
-Montgomery Gentry
-Alan Jackson
-Toby Keith
-Brad Paisley

Classical:
-Beethoven
-Johann Sebastian Bach

Metal:
-Metallica
-Bullet for My Valentine
-Escape the Fate
-Ozzy Osbourne
-Black Sabbath

Just to name a few, as there are far too many to name them all, I'd be here all day. But as you can see I have a wide variety of taste.

And some of you may look at my list and say, "Hey, that **** don't belong in that category, it belongs in 'such-n-such'". Reason for that is, I've never kept up with the whole categorizing of music, so in lieu of that, I just go with putting punk, alternative, pop, nu-metal, adult contemporary, all into the "Rock" category. As goes with the other "categories" as well.

Hi Tobias! I'm newer than you, I just joined. Maybe you can help me. I don't know where to go to ask.

I have part of the lyrics to a song from the early 80's. They were popular in the UK through the mid 90's and they come from Canada. Can you or anyone else tell me who they are and the name of the song?

The lyrics I have are:

No his name is not for rent
To any god or government
Always hopeful, yet discontent
He knows changes aren't permanent
But change is.....

Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi Annie.
If you post your question in the "Name That Tune" thread, it will most likely get answered quickly.

Welcome Tobias! Check out the Rock & Metal Forum. There are threads for the bands you mentioned and a ton more of bands that I don't want to say are better.....but they are.

I'm looking forward to seeing you around a lot!
