Yo ho guys, new norwegian newbie here!
Heya guys!
I'm new on these boards and I think I'm looking forward to be a part of the community. I'm well above average interested in music and it's very important in my "real" life, so I figured it was about time I joined some more music communities on the internet. What I'm looking for is really to discuss music, and not least get some input on music I don't already know. I'm in another exploratory phase right now .. Anyways, I'm a norwegian. I play in a few bands that are not so active because we all have more important things to do. What I play is usually drums or guitar. The most successful band-project I'm in is a folk band that mixes humour with the very much sea-based culture we have in the south of Norway along with a good dose of melancholy. It sounds a bit funny, I know, but it works quite well for us. The music I like covers a range of genres. My last "phase" if you want that lasted for quite a few years was a hard rock / metal phase where I listened to a lot of big names like Megadeth, Metallica, Dio, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Heart, Rainbow, The Who, The Rolling Stones etc etc. I also like bands and artists like Pink Floyd, Supergrass, David Bowie, Kate Bush, Led Zeppelin, Kula Shaker, The Clash .. In other words, a lot of famous artists. Lately, I've been trying to get more into prog-ish-rock bands like Alan Parsons Project, Soft Machine, Caravan, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Electric Light Orchestra and so on. My latest discovery that I'm very much looking forward to listen more to is Rock In Opposition (RIO) bands like Univers Zero and Far Corner. There's no electronica in here and although I do like some electronica, it's not something I usually listen to. I do like some swing revival bands like Squirrel Nut Zippers and Big Voodoo Daddy and my friends make me listen to rockabilly, psychobilly and on rare occasions - black metal. So to sum it up, most of the music I know is popular bands and artists (at least well known within their niche) from the 70s, 80s and 90s. I'm a bit slow with the new stuff as there's still so much to explore from back then. On the forums, I assume I'll be mostly looking for new input and learn about new artists or new things about old artists. I am assuming I won't be posting much for posting's sake, but I guess that's preferable when it comes to us newbs anyways. Looking forward to (hopefully) becoming a member of the MB community! :-)

I believe you're the only Norwegian member we've had...hope you stick around, you seem like a cool cat.
Incidentally, your English is quite awesome... Oh and if you're into prog and haven't heard of The Mars Volta, you have some catching up to do...

It would be great if you found a home here tore; you are exactly the type of person this community is intended to attract.
Enjoy!

Let's not be too friendly, we don't want to appear desperate, even if it's true...
