Hey guys and gals
My name is Steve from England. Been reading the forums a bit but got more time now to actually spend longer in them and participate. I've been a lover of music all of my life, it takes precedent over any other pursuits, even movies, which I love. I have been able to build up an adequate collection over the years yet there are still plenty of albums that I want and have not even had the chance to listen to yet. I try and vary my tastes and broaden my listening horizons so suggestions are always welcome. I try not to use genre as a label for music but in some circumstances you need to. At the moment I am beginning to get into Jazz. This is an area of music that I have previously detested and hence, I know barely anything about. But now I am beginning to appreciate it and I am looking forward to exploring this side of music, especially as it is so vast. I love my classical music and music from the 50's, 60's, 70's. I also have some favourites from the last 25 years. I don't have a favourite album or artist, I do try and make a list at some points but always fail, I prefer just to listen and enjoy rather than label and categorise. I do like pretentiousness in music. I believe that if you like something then you like it. I don't believe in liking something automatically because you like the artist or because your friends like it or because critically it was acclaimed. The same goes for disliking music. You also don't get extra points for making obscure references or going against popular opinion just because you want to appear cool etc. However, if that is your true opinion then I have no problem with it. I am enjoying these boards so far, of what I have seen, everyone seems to be firendly enough and not too opinionated that it turns into other forums, lol. I am also trying to get my whole collection listed on RYM.com but it's proving to be a real effort time wise.....does anybody have any tips for speeding it up? I'm nowhere near done and it's already taken me ages. Haha.

There's 2 methods of doing it, you can manually do it by searching each artist in the search bar at the top, or you can go to the 'Go!' option which is supposed to be a lot quicker. Not a fan of that though because it'll just swamp you down with all the different vinyl releases etc! So yeah, it's going to be slow whatever you do! |

I updated mine while I watched football matches.
Managed to add 2500+ in a month without getting bored doing it that way.
