1.) Buddy Rich

2.) Jeff Queen

3.) Josh Freese

The second of Josh is just him playing a NIN song live. He's a studio drummer and has been on over 300 records, so he can play a lot of different things. I have a lot of other favorite drummers including Bill Bachman, Atom Willard, Jason Gianni, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl, etc. But drummers should be able to play drums, not just a drum set, which is why I included Jeff in my top 3, and the rest I listed are a few of my other favorites.

No, mention of Billy Cobham.

I'm sorry, I can't be your mentor. Maybe Il Duce will take you in.

Not that it shatters my heart to not be chosen by anyone, but you're not going to because I didn't name drop your favorite drummer? Did you watch any of the videos I posted? They are all phenomenal drummers and percussionists.

I didn't say that the drummers you posted were bad. Yes, Billy Cobham is one of my favorites but I feel like if you are going to be as into drumming as you'd like to be that you should hear some of his work.

Fair enough. As a percussionist, I am also much into a lot of percussion: marching, world, orchestral, concert, rudimental, jazz, solo, ensemble, along with everything else. So while I love drum set, it's not my only area, ya know? I play it all, so I branch out a lot.

hmmm I may take you under my wing after all. I like people that are open minded and willing to branch out and discover new things.

That's a recent performance from him

and here is his wiki page so that you can read up on him a bit

I prefer Jack DeJohnette over him but he's less well-known - he played on Bitches Brew

I like it. The man has some groove. Tell me...are you into a lot of other percussion besides drum set?
