Looking for a mentor I suppose. :P

Hey all, I'm new to this community, but would love to become an active member. So I'm looking for a mentor to show my the ropes. Anyway, here's my introduction, so y'all know what you're getting into. (btw I'm not southern, I just kinda like y'all. I'm really from Michigan)

My name is Eddy Walda, I'm new here, and I would love to become a part of the music community you guys have here. I'm kinda new to the idea of a forum community but I would love to give it a shot.

A little background about myself:

I am 19 years old,
I am a freshman at Harvard University in Cambridge MA
I want to concentrate possibly in computer science and music composition, (recent possibilities for medical research to cure my own disease may change that consideration)
My disease is FSHD, a very mild case of a very mild form of muscular dystrophy.
(It's not a big deal, and I'll freely answer any questions and chat about it)
I am a multi-instrumentalist, but my main thing is piano and singing.
I'm really not a great singer, but that won't stop me.
I love to video game, (guilty pleasure)
I am trying out ballroom dance for the first time this semester.
and overall, I am a relatively quirky and relaxed guy.

I suspect I'll put myself up for adoption, (if I can figure out how to do so) and I look forward to meeting you all. If you guys have any tips of how I can be an active part of this community, let me know. I'm all ears.

I look forward to hearing from you all! Enjoy life, it's too short to wonder if you're good enough, just go for it.

You're elbow-deep in dead bodies on the daily, and he's strange?

Here is a tip eddy.

next time instead of writing a short biography about your life, why don't you just mention what kind of music you like and start from there?

i don't mean to be a dick but apart from saying you play piano you didn't share anything about your musical taste which would've been more helpful than sharing your life story.

eddywalda 10-08-2014 11:33 AM

sure, my bad. Sorry I'm kinda new to this concept.

My music taste is pretty varied, I can't really single out a single genre. I generally stay away from top 40 stuff, most of it isn't my thing, although I seriously love Coldplay now and forever. Some of the bands I've been listening to recently are NEEDTOBREATHE (i actually just saw them in concert and they were amazing!), switchfoot, twenty one pilots, relient k, young the giant, white lies, death cab for cutie, the strokes, the postal service, passion pit, panic! at the disco, muse, mumford and sons, morning parade.

The authenticity of the music matters more to me than a particular genre. If you love what you're doing and mean what you sing, I'll generally like you.

People still do this?

Sorry for the lame post, but is this required? I was kind of confused since I saw something about this in a rules thingy or something for this site?
