I think the rule about you have to be here for 6 months before you can be a mentor is a bit stiff, but understandable.

Well it's not like... a definite rule. This is a game, mostly.
But honestly, you should know a lot about the site before you adopt.
There's a member that I haven't adopted but whenever someone says something sarcastic, I tell him whether or not the person is worth getting defensive over, you know what I mean?
I think that's a good way to be.
And you have to know your way around.

Just had a read of the Newcomer's guide and thought this seemed like a fun idea, and a good way of getting to know the forums better.
