That's terrible Batty, I'm sorry to hear that.
Losing a pet is nearly, if not just as hard as losing a family member. My grandmother was recently visiting from Florida for a couple weeks. My mom took her little pomeranian dog for a walk and two Rottweilers attacked and killed the dog because they weren't leashed. I hadn't seen my gram so devastated since my grandfather (her husband) died. ****'s ****ing rough bro. You've got my sympathies. RIP Roger. |

Don't know what I would have done if that was my dog but I might have gotten mauled by one Rottweiler while choking the other one to death. I would have had a St. Bernard backing me up though. Can't imagine what your grandmother's dog must have been thinking and feeling. Must have been so scared.

Yeah, I suppose I'm thankful my Mom didn't get hurt - she's a feisty woman, but against two angry Rottweilers? Prospects wouldn't look good.
If people would just leash their dogs, you wouldn't need to carry mace with you when you walk your dog down the street. Poor little dog didn't deserve to die because the owners are idiots. |

There are local laws about keeping dogs leashed - the owners were fined $75 for not having the dogs leashed, and another $75 for the dog attacking another dog. |

I'd at least consult a good lawyer, but I can understand the sense of helplessness and wanting to just get through the emotional devastation without dragging it out.

I don't understand why people with one of the quote unquote aggressive breeds would even risk their dog needing to be put down by letting them go unleashed. Even if your dog isn't remotely aggressive, that stigma does exist, and your dog is a target for it. Why take the risk? ****ty owners.

Yeah, I encouraged the idea, but my grandmother and Mom have decided to go another way. The owners have paid for everything related to it since then. He's expressed nothing but remorse apparently. I don't know, the situation still pisses me off, but it's my parents neighbors who they're somewhat friendly with. It wasn't their neighbor's dogs though - it was one of their kids, who was visiting for the weekend and brought their dogs with them.
