Her advice is that if you can't do what I said (get your cat to eat food with dissolved medicine in a broth mixed in with their food) then her way was basically to corner the cat, force it into some kind of corner where it couldn't escape from while bodily holding it in place, and force the medicine down its throat. While you're doing this, take a squirt bottle and spray the side of the cat's mouth to wash it down. Make sure to spray the side of the cat's mouth, otherwise you could spray the water down its throat and into its windpipe.

My mother has a history of keeping near death cats alive for months, even years after they should have stayed alive, in comfort. So she doesn't just keep miserable animals that wish they were dead alive. My mother is a psychopath about making sure all of her animals live the maximum amount of happy years available to them and if there was anyone who I would listen to, it would be her.

Seriously, she's ****ing crazy, but I wouldn't even trust a veterinarian with the last years of my pet before I would trust her. Even they are amazed at the relatively healthy condition of the animals she finally has to bring in to be put to sleep.
Cheers, I'm going to give it a go in the morning so I'll tell you how it went. Not looking forward to this tbh. Why can't they just stop being cunts and swallow the pill?

Its as simple as holding your cat in place. The gun has rubber tips so that you do not injure the cat. Place it at the back of the throat and depress the back end. Its simple and no cat has ever been injured with one. Seriously if you've never used a pill gun, definitely get one. I had to give my dog pills for years for his hyper thyroid and the pill gun is the way to go. 10/10

Maybe you're right. But I'm not lying when I say my mother is a pet care psycho, and she never used one. Not saying it's not viable, since I have none of my mother's experience, but I would be seriously cautious about anything like that without the express okay of a veterinarian.

So, MONKEY, BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING... TALK TO A VETERINARIAN. We're *******s on an internet forum. Talk to a veterinarian before you do anything.

The veterinarian gave me the pill gun. He said sometimes using hands is more harmful as you can scratch the inside of your animals throat/mouth. The pill gun has rubber edges and ends and allows for easy depression of the tongue and allows you easy access to the back of the throat and only requires you to depress your thumb to release it. Trust me I used one for about five years before my dog passed of old age.

Dog? Not cat? I'm not at all trying to disparage your own opinion, but a cat is different from a dog, and is much less willing to put up with ****.

Like I said, Monkey dude, talk to your vet. Talk, talk, talk to your vet, vet, vet. You wouldn't administer medical care to your child without advice from a doctor, so don't do so without advice from a vet. If the vet says using a pill gun on a cat is A-Okay then great. Sounds like a lot less hassle than what I said.

But talk to your vet. No question, no excuses. Talk to your vet. Talk to two vets. Multiple opinions from doctors and all that.

Are you suggesting that I should talk to my vet

Seriously watch how easy it is on youtube and then buy a pill gun. Don't waste your money on a vet visit. Pay the five bucks for a gun and voila, problem solved.

Nope. **** vets. They're just trying to get your cat hooked on Ritalin.

I used to have a psycho tom cat and that worked on him. I'd grab him from behind so he couldn't back up and stick the pill in the side of his mouth, then put it at the back of his tongue with my finger. A bit gross but it worked most of the time. Sometimes he'd spit it out so you have to do it again when he's already pissed off.
