Lol it must be because of how she was treated as a kitten. Did you adopt her? I wonder if she likes a back scratch. I have not met a cat who doesn't like it.

She was a present from my ma's bf and already two years old when we got her, so not sure about the past. She likes being pet on her head and back... just don't dare touch anywhere else, try to pick her up, or pet her when she's not in the mood haha.
And like all females... there is no conceivable way of knowing when she wants to be stroked. |

That's why I would only buy male cats. I had two brother cats growing up, they were wonderful. I wonder if it's hormones that make female cats so grumpy.

Can only comment on two cats, one was a girl and was quite affectionate but didn't like being picked up too much.
The other is the cat I have now and he's the softest thing ever. Best pet I've ever had tbh. |

My two female cats are pretty down to earth. One doesn't like being picked up because I didn't pick her up much as a kitten. She will tolerate me holding her for a bit ten wants out. My male cat is the grumpy one but not really grumpy just super high strung and vocal. No idea what happened to him as a baby kitten but he seems stressed out all the time. He will meow for me to pet him and just randomly meows at me at different times.

All 3 of my GF's cats are extremely friendly. One of them (Kahey) was abused as a kitten, and has had a busted jaw at some point, but she has been loved and cuddled enough to know that she is in a good place now. I call her May West. She has that swagger, and seems to be saying "Come on up and see me sometime" when she waddles away.
Sarina is so much of a luv-bug that it's to the point of being a pest. Once you start, you're in it for the long haul. She will persist on getting some kind of attention from you for hours. She also plays fetch with wrapped hard candy... for hours. JoJo (a Russian Blue) used to have spraying problems, and once destroyed a guitar pedal of mine. She's since been 'fixed' and all is right with her now. She's my constant companion. She sleeps by my head at night and is always there to see me off, or greet me when I get home. I've never been a 'pet' person, but these little balls of fur won me over a long time ago.
