Smile Hello

Hi,
I felt a bit rude having posted a couple of posts before saying hi to the people, so thought I'd just drop a quick note to say hello.

I'm not sure if there's a "formal" introduction thread I should start with, I searched for it but it seems that most people just start a new thread. So please let me know if there are other things I should keep in mind while posting.

And about the avatar, I know this is probably a really old question for some of you, I tried the FAQ but I can't find where it says that you need to have posted 50 posts before you can have an avatar, like some of the other members of this forum have answered in other posts. Anyways, the point is I just wanted to be sure if that's the case. Thanks in advance, specially should you have answered to this question 100 times...

I'm not one to go rambling on about myself, but please feel free to ask anything should anyone be interested. I guess we'll get to know a bit more about each other with time.

Evan

Hello adidasss,

So I'm 32, male, I am currently living in Paris but I'm orginally from Hong Kong, my father's English while Mom's Chinese, so I'm "Eurasian", if you like.

I play the guitar, so I tend to be drawn towards music which are guitar oriented, vis, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Led Zepellin and other guitar greats. However, I listen to a very wide range of music as I went through many defferent stages growing up, eg. Heavy Metal (Metallica), Hard Rock (anything from AC/DC to Black Sabbath to Rage Against The Machine to 3 Doors Down to Ausioslave etc.), some Thrash (Panetra, Overkill etc.), Punk (Sex Pistols, The Clash, Exploited and the likes), Goth (The Mission, Joy Division, Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus etc.), A lot of Reggae (Bob Marley, Macka B., Burning Spear, Black Uhuru and Eek-A-Mouse etc.) some Ska (The Specials, The Skatilites, Laurel Aitken etc.) Some Dub (Mad Professor etc.) few Hip-Hop (Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang etc.) Some RnB / Oldies (Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Marvin ***e etc.) A lot of John Lennon, A huge variation of Pop (anything from U2 to Sting to Depeche Mode to Ben Harper, Keane, Dire Straits etc.) A good number of Trance (Faithless, Chicane etc.), some Techno, (Favourite DJs like Sasha, Tiesto etc.), some Trip Hop (David Holmes, Tricky, The Herbaliser, DJ Shadow etc.), some Acid Jazz (Portishead, Acoustic Alchemy etc.) some Folk (Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Nick Drake etc.) some Guitar Legends (Steve Via, Joe Sat. Eric Johnson etc.) some Lounge (anything from Café del Mar to Buddha bar) a fair bit of Alternative (Nine Inch Nails, Ash, Jane's Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins, Asian Dub Foundation etc.) A fair bit of Blues (John Lee Hooker, Gary Moore etc.) a fair share of Indie (Metric, Elbow, The Dandy Warhols, The Stand etc.), a fair bit of '60s to '70s (The Doors, Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground, Steve Miller Band, The Who, The Waterboys, etc.), some Grunge and Pre-Grunge (Mother Love Bone, Sound Garden, Nirvana, Alice In Chains etc.) The Dogs D'Amour, The Smiths are also some of my favourites. Moby's been making good music, more recently I've been listening to a lot of Muse, Royksopp are excellent, and so forth... So you see it's pretty difficult to categorize exactly what kind of Music I like... hell, I'll even admit I've got Beethovan and Mozart and even some New Age Georgian Chant and Nature Music stuck in that Meida Player of mine somewhere...

Anyways, as you can probably work out by now, music plays a very large part of my life, it's the only thing that carries me away, it's my expression, it's my comfort, my haven, my shelter, it feeds my soul, it's my memories and it's my reality, it's my laughters and my tears... I don't mean to get all cheesy with words, but yea, I love music.

Thanks for the clarification, Fenixpunk. I guess I better get working on it if I want to put my mug-shot up.

Hey right-track, the lad from Manchester! - home to BBC's Philharmonic Orchestra, the reputed Chetham's School of Music as well as some of the great bands in mordern music in the U.K. such as Joy Division & New Order, The Smiths and even the flippin Bee Gees! There's no doubt then you must remember The Happy Mondays, The Inspiral Carpets, James and The Stone Roses! The music scene must be booming there!
