new old gal says hi

Hi MB forums. I'm a member from a long time ago, haven't been around in years. I thought I'd take up some space here again and join in on the music conversations.

Some stuff I'm into... Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Kate Bush, Cocteau Twins, Stereolab, Broadcast, Vanishing Twin, Ladytron... to name just a few. I hope I find some like-minded souls here with whom I can have some inspiring music conversations.

Stop by and say hi. I'm mostly friendly, most of the time.

Welcome back. MB is much less populated than it used to be but there are still a few of us posting here. Tore and Trollheart started another forum 2 or 3 years ago, and several MB members (including myself) migrated over there after they got it up and running. Here's the link if you're interested...

Something Completely Different

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. I'm looking for some other social media platforms where I can waste my time. :D

I suspected it might be less populated here than it used to be and, in fact, was actually kind of surprised to see the forum still up and running. But I'm glad it is and that I can rediscover a space where I can read some music news and engage in conversation.

Welcome back. What good taste you have. I saw Nick and the Bad Seeds on their first US tour--the best rock show I've ever seen. As good as the songs From Her To Eternity are, they were much more powerful live. The whole band was amazing-- well, except maybe for Blixa. But he looked cool, especially with the switchblade he used to play slide guitar.

Thanks for the welcome. I've seen Nick and the Bad Seeds many times, loved every show. One of the best bands I've ever seen live. I think I saw one of their last tours with Blixa, when their U.S. label was pushing them to tour in support of their 1998 best of compilation. They played the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, where I saw them. It was a fantastic night.

Saw them again a few years later at the Wiltern, but Blixa had left the band by that point. It was the weekend of my birthday, though, so it was a great way to celebrate. Actor Philip Seymore Hoffman was in the audience, too, which was really cool.

I saw Neko Case live a few years later, who I discovered by seeing her open for Nick... although I can't remember which tour it was. ...Anyway, actor Melissa McCarthy and her hubs were in the audience for Neko's show. Who knew they had decent taste in music?

Got introduced to Sixteen Horsepower through Nick, too. Saw them open for him and was blown away. He's had some great opening acts when I saw him in L.A. Got into Shilpa Ray through Nick's influence, too, since he produced an EP for her and they covered "Pirate Jenny" together on the Rogues' Gallery pirate ballads compilation.

Hi, also came here not long time ago, but I'd take up some space here either!

Great taste. Never heard of Vanishing Twin but I like what I'm hearing on YT

Yeah, also came back after quite a while and surprised it's still running. Long live!
