To be 100% factual "Indie" is an independant band, meaning not signed to a major label - so none of the above mentioned bands are technically indie! But who is 100% factual all of the time? ;-) I certainly am not and always refer to a certain style of music as being Indie, even if it is a band signed to a major |

well my favorite indie is without a doubt the magnetic fields. Their album, 69 love songs is a 3 disk classic. There newest album, i is also verrrrry good. a little hard to find online, but personal favorites include songs like I don't really love you anymore and Chicken with its head cut off. Check em out!

yeah i knew indie meant independent but its now used to talk about a style of music.
its like the word pop means popular music- which covers everything from 50 Cent to Mandy Moore to Metallica as they are all popular- but now its used to describe a certain type of sound only. |

dude if your gonna talk about nz indie music you gotta talk about the clean, the chills, the verlaines and all of that other flying nun stuff, while some of those other bands may be good, you cant mention nz and indie in the same sentence without referencing the aforementioned bunch.
