Yes, I listened to the songs on Transference (as YouTube videos) just now as background music while I was doing some computer work. None of the songs grabbed my attention or made me want to listen again except for one:

Spoon - Out go the Lights

This song made me realize I must have heard some Spoon songs from previous albums on the radio several years ago, because "Out go the Lights" has a similar dark sound, a sad sort of sweetness, and a similar use of long bass notes at the end (around 3:00 in the video).

The other two songs on the album that made me pay attention were "Got 'nuffin" and "Nobody gets me but you." I like the aggression in "Nobody gets me but you," but I doubt I'll listen to any of the other songs again besides these three. Most of the songs seem fairly bland and repetitive to me. Whereas "Finer Feelings"...I'll happily listen to that five times in a row!

Yeah, I listened to it once too and it didn't catch my attention. But I'm not really a hardcore Spoon fan, I only listen to their last two (well, the two before Transference).

Veg, I hope you listened to Ga ga ga ga, it's got plenty of other nice tunes on it...

I will do that, adidasss. I actually just thought that "Ga ga ga ga" was a song and didn't realize it was a whole album. Thanks for the tip!

I just finished listening to the Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga album, and found I only really liked one song besides "Finer Feelings": "My Little Japanese Cigarette Case."

I like the feeling of simmering anger in the bass line and the unprettiness of parts of the song. Spoon went rather minimalist with their lyrics for this song, I must say. If the lyrics made more sense to me, I'd like the song more.

Just listening to Transference. Decent so far, pretty standard Spoon.

Just searched them now.. They sound pretty indie.

I've heard their songs before, but never really payed attention haha.

I loved their first album, Telephono. Very Pixies-ish!

I'm trying to decide whether to pick up girls can tell, gimme fiction, or series of sneaks. I already own ga ga ga and kill the moonlight. I'm leaning towards gimme fiction because I know and love a few songs on it. Can anyone give an opinion on sneaks or girls can tell? Thanks

Girls Can Tell is great stuff, but Spoon are possibly the most consistent band going in the 00's.

Default Spoon

Couldn't find a thread for this but redirect me if there is an existing one please.

Spoon is one of my favorite bands. All of their albums have a special place in my heart, especially Kill The Moonlight. Any Spoon fans out there?
